Gratitude for the encouragement and inspiration which I have received from the testimonies contained in The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel has awakened in me a desire to share with others some of the blessings which have come to me during the years that I have been a student of Christian Science.
My husband and I began the serious study of this Science when our older son, now grown to manhood, was quite a small boy. Our purpose was not to obtain a physical healing, for we were in excellent health, but to gain a better standard of living and to rid ourselves of false pleasures and attractions, which we realized were not conducive to spiritual growth. Higher ideals, aims, and purposes as a result of this study have transformed and blessed our home.
During his childhood our older boy was healed, solely by the application of Christian Science, of mumps, measles, whooping cough, and scarlet fever, each in so short a time as to seem almost miraculous to one unacquainted with the practical availability of the truth, and the knowledge that "the word of God is quick, and powerful." Our second son, who was born twelve years after the first one, has been immeasurably blessed in that none of these discomforts have been a part of his experience. The higher understanding which we attained by faithfully striving for and applying the truths of being as revealed by Christian Science, has protected him and blessed all concerned.
