Testimonies of Healing

Because we have recently moved to a...

From the March 1947 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Because we have recently moved to a town where there is no Christian Science church or society in which I can publicly give thanks to God for all His goodness, and I feel the desire to continue this former activity, I am submitting the following testimony in the hope that it will be of help to others.

A Christian Science lecturer I once heard said that there were some Scientists who were so full of the letter that they forgot to practice Christianity. This made me think of a time when I was one of those. I was studying many hours a day to acquire an understanding of Christian Science, when our landlord informed us that our home was to be placed on the market for sale. Soon numerous people were coming to see the house, disturbing my quiet periods of study. I became very resentful because of these interruptions, until I was not pleasant to those who called. Finally I realized I had acquired more of the letter of Science than I was practicing. I resolved to meet the next callers with courtesy and kindness, knowing that we are all in reality the sons and daughters of God; and that if the house we occupied was necessary for another's need I would willingly give it up, knowing God would always care for us.

The next day the house was sold. I continued to think along the lines mentioned, and on the following day we were guided to a more comfortable home than the one we were in. This occurred at a time when houses to rent were almost impossible to find.
