Testimonies of Healing

For many years I have been taught...

From the March 1947 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For many years I have been taught, guided, and healed by Christian Science. It was presented to me at a time of great mental and physical strain because of the illness of a member of my family. I asked for treatment to relieve me of the fear of death. The resulting change in my thought was marked by a radical change in the predictions made for the patient, who was under medical treatment, and conditions began to improve at once for her. This experience made me receptive to the truth and I began to study the Lesson-Sermons and to attend church services. One by one, I saw problems which seemed like mountains work out to harmonious conclusions. I have had physical healings also, of grippe, colds, influenza, chilblains, sprained ankles, rash on my hands, and many other ills, through the application of the truth taught in Christian Science. Often when the suggestion of disease has tried to get a foothold in my consciousness, I have promptly denied its reality with the result that the material evidences cleared up immediately.

Church membership has filled my life with joyous activity, and each opportunity for service has enriched my thought and enlarged my gratitude for Christian Science. I am grateful for the periodicals. They are a constant inspiration, and in these troubled times have helped to clear my thought on current questions needing solution.

After I had been reading and studying our Leader's writings forsome time, I experienced a joyous release from a sense of limitation which had been part of our family thought for years. Various statements of truth stirred my thought to greater expectancy of good. About this time, the Signs of the Times in the Christian Science Sentinel carried excerpts on Tithing, which came as a direct message to me, and I began to give more gratefully to the Cause of Christian Science. This freer giving brought with it a sense of abundance which has increased throughout the years with the realization of the truth of Mrs. Eddy's statement in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 5), "Wholly apart from this mortal dream, this illusion and delusion of sense, Christian Science comes to reveal man as God's image, His idea, coexistent with Him—God giving all and man having all that God gives."
