"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy" (Ps. 107:2).
Christian Science found me when I was ready for it. Like many, I was enveloped in material beliefs and fears. I had been brought up by religiously-minded parents in a home where morning and evening family prayers were the daily rule. I had been taught, however, to believe that evil and good were both real, and that evil was at times more powerful than good.
When reaching womanhood, I reasoned that if God makes or allows people to be sick and ill in order to make them good, as I had been taught, then I desired to help these people. So with my parents' consent I left home and went to London to take up nursing. In due course I married and, after the births of our two sons, became a semi-invalid.
