Prayer for a Home

From the September 1947 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My house is built upon the rock of Truth;
Order and beauty rest securely there,
While hungry hearts are fed with living bread,
The sorrowing comforted and freed from fear.

The angels of His presence guard its doors.
Admitting only what is pure and good;
Its windows open upon glorious views,
Its walls the storms of error have withstood.

No subtle change, nor interfering hand,
Can thrust upon this home an evil reign,
For God alone is power and presence there;
His might all false pretensions will restrain.

In Love's abundance every need is met;
All things are added as substance brings increase
In spiritual sense; nor only these, but more:
Grace, harmony, companionship, and peace.

Lord, thou hast ever been our dwelling place,
Our Father, Mother, brother, husband, wife;
Thou art the center and circumference
Of all that is our home: Thou art our Life.
