It is with heartfelt gratitude that I add...

From the January 1948 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with heartfelt gratitude that I add my humble voice to the thousands raised in testimony to the guidance and healing power of Christian Science.

Early in 1945 we were led to sell our house because it was too large for our needs. We had been advised that houses and apartments for rent were not available, but since it did not appear right for us to withhold our large house from someone who needed it, we proceeded with the sale.

We made the necessary human contacts to open channels for finding a place to live. Nothing was found by the time we had to move, and so we accepted a couple of rooms in the home of a friend. At first disappointment tried to creep in because we had not experienced a complete solution at once. Soon, however, we realized that our thinking was in need of correcting. Our pride had been hurt that we had to accept the hospitality of a friend. Were we better than Jesus and Mrs. Eddy, who had lovingly accepted the kindness expressed by others? When growth was experienced in our thoughts, we found ourselves free to take the next step.
