Fishers of Men

From the January 1948 issue of The Christian Science Journal

So quiet was the scene that day
When Jesus walked beside the sea,
His voice rang out; they heard him say
Those words of challenge, "Follow me."
They straightway tossed their nets aside;
They left their ships. Familiar things,
And valued, to a fisher's pride,
Became as nothing. Words with wings
Awakened hungering minds to dare
To trust the promise given, then
To walk the rugged road, to share
The joy of serving God and men.
The healing truth they lived and learned;
In beauty of the Christ they grew.
Oh, day of richness, when they turned
From fishing ships to pathways new!
