MANY years ago the writer heard a testimony in which the speaker, mentioning the insistent demands of material sense, said something to this effect: "I have learned one thing in Christian Science, namely, that mortal mind cannot push me around." We too can learn this lesson.
Mortal mind may attempt to subject us to unwarranted pressure or to coerce us into believing that its demands are inevitable, but its only power is to suggest. If we consent to its suggestions, we have, in the phraseology of the speaker, pushed ourselves around, or, in belief, cast ourselves down from the pinnacle of uplifted thought. Because we have dominion over our own thinking, nothing can invade the harmony of our thought or dethrone the Christ in our consciousness. The suggestions of mortal mind are ungodlike, hence powerless. There is but one Mind; therefore in reality there is no mortal mind to make insistent demands on man and no mortal mind to respond to any such demands.
God, omnipotent Principle, is not subject to pressure. Why? Because God, infinite Spirit, or Mind, is all-inclusive being. He is not in any thing. There is nothing beyond or beside God to make demands on Him. His activity can never be interfered with or encroached upon.
