"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy" (Ps. 107:2).
I am a high school girl and attend a Christian Science Sunday School regularly. I have had many beautiful healings through the steadfast application of Christian Science. An outstanding demonstration, the overcoming of poor vision, was completed when I finally refused to accept the argument that God's child needs to see matter. I had been attempting to see a material universe with material vision. My Sunday School teacher gave me this statement to study from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick." The members of my Sunday School class helped me with this demonstration, lovingly denying all the claims mortal mind would have me manifest and declaring with me that in reality I was perfect because I reflected the perfect God. My vision is strong and normal and has been for over two years.
Another healing for which I should like to express gratitude is one of appendicitis. I became ill with this on a Monday, but I did not know what it was until the next evening, when my father expressed a desire to call a doctor because he feared it was appendicitis. Then my consciousness was filled with the thought: "Thank You, God; I know that 'man is not matter; he is not made up of brain, blood, bones, and other material elements' (ibid., p. 475). If I am not made of matter, how can I have appendicitis?" Though I did not attend school on Wednesday, a doctor was not called.
