HUMAN invention has brought forth wonderful and speedy methods of movement and transportation in the modern world through the application of material power. But what shall we say of the divine power revealed in Christian Science, which in these same times frees the sick and the crippled from that which confines them, and bids them rise up and walk forth?
The real man's unity with God, who is Mind, Spirit, Love, which this Science teaches, forms the basis for demonstrating our freedom. Man, as the idea of divine Mind, reflects the perpetual and harmonious action of this Mind. The boundlessness and infinity of Spirit preclude the supposition that man, the reflection of Spirit, can be limited or circumscribed. With such immeasurable love does the heavenly Father care for His children that it is impossible for them to be bound by the false beliefs of the illusive material sense of life.
When he addressed the sick and said, "Rise up and walk," Christ Jesus made it clear that this was but commensurate with saying, "Thy sins be forgiven thee" (Luke 5:23). The Bible contains a number of instances wherein the command to rise is given in the figurative sense of drawing closer to God. Since God is always with us, this drawing near to Him can only be by way of correcting one's thinking, eliminating the false belief that man is separated from Him and acknowledging the allness of God and the healing power of His ever-present Christ. Jesus proved, and it is demonstrated in Christian Science again today, that as consciousness rises Spiritward, the human body manifests more and more harmony.
