Christian Science gives human consciousness a new basis. By making clear the absolute spirituality of man as the idea of God and the consequent unreality of material selfhood, it enables one to abandon mortal premises and to take the position confidently proclaimed by Paul (Gal. 2: 20), "The life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God."
Mortal man is not man at all, but a false concept, misrepresenting man's identity. Everything that appears humanly in the guise of pain, sin, want, or death, seeming to be man, is actually part and parcel of this false concept. Everything that really tends toward or gives evidence of health, purity, supply, and immortality, on the other hand, is the Christ ever coming to human experience and bringing to light real manhood.
Because God, divine Mind, is the one creator, man is His son, His idea. By faithfully claiming the attributes of divine sonship as one's own and expressing them, one demonstrates their ever-presence.
