In this period in the world's history, homelessness and displacement are worldwide problems. Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." This was proved to me in a magnificent working out of the above-mentioned problems through the sincere study and practice of Christian Science.
My own homelessness came about during the voyage from a material sense of being to the spiritual, and lasted for several months, during which time I also suffered from a sense of misplacement. I studied as constantly as my other duties permitted, and I followed, according to my highest understanding, the leadings of Mind, practicing the truth to the best of my ability. Great spiritual growth followed and the increased joy and sense of dominion which go hand in hand with such growth, but the human problem had not resolved itself.
Finally there was a period of a few weeks during which I was able to study uninterruptedly for many hours a day. I seized this opportunity, for I was hungry and thirsty for the Christ, Truth, and I found my healing. I understood what I had believed in theory for years, that each one has a place in the economy of being, in which he is absolutely irreplaceable and indispensable, a place which no one else can fill. One can find that place only by relinquishing all human will and outlining and placing oneself unreservedly in God's hands. That is one's right place—in God's hands.
