ANNOUNCEMENT

From the July 1948 issue of The Christian Science Journal

WE are pleased to announce the election of L. Ivimy Gwalter, C.S.B., on May 11, to be a Director of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Miss Gwalter succeeds Mrs. Nelvia E. Ritchie, deceased, and has been nominated for the Trusteeships heretofore occupied by Mrs. Ritchie. Miss Gwalter has resigned as an Associate Editor of The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science in its several editions.

Miss Gwalter is a native of New York, where her mother, Mrs. Lucy L. Gwalter, C.S.B., practiced and taught Christian Science. She was a pupil in the Sunday School of Third Church of Christ, Scientist, New York City, from an early age, and united in membership with The Mother Church in November, 1904. Upon her graduation from high school Miss Gwalter spent a year in the study of languages in Geneva, Switzerland, after which she returned to the United States and studied music at the Musical Art Institute in New York City, from which she graduated in 1913.

Miss Gwalter received Primary class instruction in Christian Science from her mother in 1910, and upon completion of her musical studies she devoted herself to the earnest study of Christian Science with the desire to enter the practice. She has served the branch church in which she holds membership in many capacities, including that of Second Reader, member of the board of trustees, and superintendent of the Sunday School.
