Having witnessed so much suffering in the home during my childhood and young womanhood, I shall never forget the wonderful light that dawned upon my troubled sense as I caught my first glorious glimpses of Christian Science over twenty-five years ago. I shall never cease to be thankful for the fulfillment of its rich promises which have been manifested in my experience in the degree that I have been faithful and obedient to its teachings.
"Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized," writes Mrs. Eddy on page 167 of Science and Health. This statement was forcibly brought to my attention soon after I took up the study of Christian Science, for it was not until I was willing to take this radical stand and to discard the medicine which I was then taking each night that I was healed, through my own efforts, of a bowel trouble which I had had since childhood.
As I was a young student at the time, my healing made a great impression on me, but I soon realized that I needed to gain a fuller understanding of this Science. Through my endeavor to do this, together with the help of a Christian Science practitioner, I was sustained and comforted at the time of the passing on of one who was very near and dear to me, and I was led to a beautiful home where Christian Science was being daily lived and practiced. I was later healed of a heart trouble which manifested itself soon after the passing on of this loved one. The latter healing took place over seventeen years ago and has been permanent.
