Although I was in attendance at Sunday School during my last year of high school, my social activities at that time did not conform to the high standards we are taught in Christian Science. However, I knew that my Father-Mother God was tenderly guiding me, and after graduating from high school the opportunity unfolded for me to take a position which enabled me to have a college education later on.
On my first day of work I found that a Christian Science Reading Room was but two doors away from the place where I was employed. For a year I spent nearly my entire lunch period every day reading and studying the Bible, as well as the works of Mary Baker Eddy, and other authorized literature. Of course the improved state of consciousness very soon resulted in complete freedom from any false desire for worldly sophistication and in the unfoldment of harmonious companionship, including that of the one who is now my husband.
The following year I went away to college better equipped spiritually and more expectant of good than I would have been the previous year. I am grateful for the interesting and beneficial courses I was able to take and extracurricular activities I was able to enter upon, but most important of all to me was being able to help in the formation of a Christian Science Organization on campus. The daily study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly and the preparation for the organization's weekly meetings helped me and other young students of Christian Science to apply our understanding of God and man to meet physical difficulties and aid us in our college work.
