Evening Affirmation

From the September 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This is God's day. The evening as the morning
by Him alone is ruled.
God knows no vain regret, no backward turning
to purpose unfulfilled.

We need not question if some hard decision,
some choice, was rightly made.
God, Mind, man's only Mind, with sure precision
has been our constant guide.

We can reject the idle tales of trouble
material sense has told
of word or deed unwise, of body feeble.
Man has not erred nor ailed.

All God has willed, today has been unfolded
according to His plan.
In all things real man has correctly builded
to God's exact design.

This is God's day. At evening as at morning
still stand our hope and joy.
God is our source, to God is our returning,
and we have been with God throughout today.
