GOOD BUSINESS

From the September 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science teaches that the realm of the real is Spirit, God. Real business is that activity which reflects and expresses Spirit, Mind, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, and Love. Such mental activity constitutes a spiritual ideal which, when understood and lived, brings success and harmony to human occupation. In God's realm there is no failure or lack.

One sometimes hears the question, "How can I use the teachings of Christian Science to improve my business?" The answer may be stated in these words: "By increasing your understanding of what constitutes true business and applying this understanding to human business conditions"

In her book "Miscellaneous Writings" Mary Baker Eddy says (p. 166): "Like the leaven that a certain woman hid in three measures of meal, the Science of God and the/ spiritual idea, named in this century Christian Science, is leavening the lump of human thought, until the whole shall be leavened and all materialism disappear. This action of the divine energy, even if not acknowledged, has come to be seen as diffusing richest blessings. This spiritual idea, or Christ, entered into the minutiae of the life of the personal Jesus. It made him an honest man, a good carpenter, and a good man, before it could make him the glorified."
