Testimonies of Healing

I am deeply grateful for the teachings of...

From the November 1951 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am deeply grateful for the teachings of Christian Science and for the wonderful works of God, which have found expression in my life as a result of the study and practice of the teachings of the Bible and of Science and Health and other writings by Mrs. Eddy. I realize now that even before I knew of Christian Science, I had an inward sense of and desire for Truth. Now, with the acceptance of this Science, which is the law of God, I know that it is a Science which is demonstrably true and capable of practice and proof everywhere and by all.

During World War II, whilst serving in the armed forces, I was afflicted by a growth on my neck, which was visible to those around me; and their concern for my welfare caused me to go to a medical officer and later to a surgeon, who pronounced a need for an immediate surgical operation. I was not fearful at the time; I knew that Christian Science had healed a member of my family, and an inner conviction told me that it would heal me. I sought the help of a Christian Science practitioner, and I shall never forget the unfolding change in my thinking when I learned of the operation of divine Love and of the infinite blessings Truth bestows on man. The healing, though not immediate, was sure, and within a few weeks I was completely free.

Since then I have found more and more that, as our Leader says (Science and Health, p. 174): "Truth is revealed. It needs only to be practised." I am indeed grateful for this and many other healings; I am also grateful for our Leader's writings and for all that Christian Science is doing for mankind today. I am especially grateful for the Christian Science literature. On many occasions, just when I have needed to realize true spiritual facts, I have found the answer to my prayer in an article in the Journal or the Christian Science Sentinel. I am grateful too for the privilege of membership in The Mother Church, as well as in a branch church.—
