Testimonies of Healing

I am most grateful for the many proofs...

From the November 1951 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am most grateful for the many proofs that Christian Science heals. Not long ago I had proof that it corrects even the slightest error of thought and heals in the correcting.

When I was a child, I had a severe attack of pleurisy, and as a young matron I had several attacks of the same malady; but I did not have r recurrence of it after I began the study of Christian Science until, in talking to some friends not long ago, I made the statement that I had not had pleurisy for a long time. Nothing more was said about it, but the next day I had all the symptoms of this disease. I realized that the thought that prompted my statement was a memory of the disease as a reality. The first attack came on a Monday, and on Tuesday I was unable to go to work; so I asked a practitioner for help. By Wednesday night I was able to go to church completely healed. I am very grateful for this healing not only because the error was so quickly dissolved, but also because I learned a valuable lesson, not to speak and think of past errors as reality, for the pleurisy was never a reality, but a lie, a false belief.

Many other blessings have been mine since I had my first glimpse of Christian Science. In 1944 we sold our house in a city where we had lived for seventeen years and moved to a distant city. We were led to a house that has been perfect for us, and our business connections have proved a great blessing. Truly, as our Leader says (Science and Health, p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
