In Psalms we read these words (84: 11): "For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." In Christian Science we learn how to walk uprightly, and as we are obedient, we experience God's rich blessings.
Much good has come to me and mine when we have honestly and humbly applied the truth. Our need for a place to live during the many moves we made when my husband was in the United States Army was always met when we held to the promise expressed in Exodus 23: 20, "Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared." I am grateful to the Christian Science practitioner who gave me this verse of Scripture to ponder and make mine before I began traveling with my husband. The belief of separation was completely overcome at the time my husband departed for overseas duty. Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in "Miscellaneous Writings" says (p.110), "But time and space, when encompassed by divine presence, do not separate us."
I should like to share a healing that meant much spiritual growth to me. We were living in Japan at the time of this experience, as my husband was serving with the Army of Occupation there. One of our sons had a skin disease which was prevalent among the Japanese. It was accompanied by swelling and pain. We had much fear, and my husband and I felt it wise to cable a practitioner in the United States who had lovingly helped us many times. I sat by the child's bedside throughout one night, audibly declaring the truth, for the pain seemed great; before morning the pain had gone, never to return, and the child began to improve immediately, and the healing was soon completed.
