Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 525): "Everything good or worthy, God made. Whatever is valueless or baneful, He did not make,—hence its unreality." Students of Christian Science can therefore instantly know, when faced with threatened calamity, that since it is the evidence of something baneful, or evil, it is not real. At such times it is their priceless privilege to know that here is an opportunity to prove the omnipotence and omnipresence of God.
A student of Christian Science, when going through what seemed to be a calamity, steadfastly adhered to the fact that it was an opportunity to become more aware of God's goodness and to be more deeply consecrated to the study of the Bible and our beloved Leader's works. She realized that she could see more of God's loving-kindness and prove that the everlasting arms of Love are ever beneath and around us, and that we are always in His presence.
After some days this student was rewarded for her faithful adherence to Truth by seeing abundance and harmony manifested in every way. She rejoiced to see that what had indeed seemed to be a dire calamity had disappeared, and in its place had been the opportunity for her to prove the precious teachings of Christian Science concerning God's allness and goodness.
