At one time I was suffering from what was diagnosed as a very severe case of hyperthyroidism. I was extremely nervous, had lost much weight, and there was a serious heart condition. I had been under the care of a physician for months, and many weeks were spent in bed, but the condition appeared to get worse.
At this point a dear friend suggested that I try Christian Science. With the help of a practitioner relief from the critical condition was immediate, although the healing was not complete until several months had elapsed. The advancement from faith to spiritual understanding which took place at this time brought many lessons that I shall always cherish as steppingstones.
Mrs. Eddy's answer to the question, "Do you believe in change of heart?" in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 50) was most helpful. After saying that there must be a change from the belief that the material heart sustains life to the understanding of Life as God, Mrs. Eddy declares, "This change of heart would deliver man from heart-disease, and advance Christianity a hundredfold."
