My entire life has been changed since I took up the study of Christian Science. When it was first presented to me many years ago, I was a semi-invalid and had spent most of my time in bed. Several doctors had pronounced the difficulty complete nervous prostration, and two of them said they had done all they could do for me. Insomnia, a digestive ailment, an organic misplacement, a nervous heart, and constant weariness and weakness made my life a burden.
I had a deep reverence for God, for I had had years of religious training in Sunday School and through attendance at an orthodox church. But God seemed far away, and my many prayers left me comfortless and in despair. And so, at the darkest hour, when drugs to quiet my sufferings were no longer effective, a Christian Science practitioner was called to the home.
I was healed of the fear of food that very afternoon, and the next morning knew that I had been healed of insomnia. I realized that something lovely had taken place in my thinking, and I wanted to know how. I started reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and with the help of the practitioner I began my journey from sense to Soul. Mrs. Eddy says in this textbook (p. 162 "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies." "The sunlight of Truth" was to me a growing understanding of God's perfect creation and of His love for me. H is child. The ills that had bound me for seven years were one by one destroyed, and I felt renewed mentally and physically.
