All my life I had suffered from attacks of influenza. After taking up the study of Christian Science, each time the symptoms presented themselves I tried to watch my thought and deny their entrance by knowing that only good is real and that any other influence has only the power that mortal mind gives it, which in reality is no power. The understanding I had gained of "the scientific statement of being," as given on page 468 in our textbook. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, was one of the strongest defenses. However, the erroneous condition did not yield without a struggle. Each demonstration over this form of mesmerism was quicker than the previous one, and I am humbly grateful to say that I have now been free for much over two years.
Over a year ago I experienced an instantaneous healing of ivy poisoning. One day while working in the garden, I suddenly realized that all the exposed parts of my body were covered with watery blisters. At the time, 1 was greatly alarmed and went immediately into the house to work in Christian Science to calm my fear. I tried to clear my thought of anything unlike God. I reasoned that since God made everything good, one form of His creation could not be harmful to another. Soon I returned to the garden, and in about half an hour every vestige of the blisters had disappeared; and they did not return.
I am very grateful for many healings; but I am much more grateful for the joy that has come to me in a higher sense of love for my fellow man, which has enabled me to overcome resentment and false pride. I am indeed grateful to Mrs. Eddy for Christian Science.—Lookout Mountain, Tennessee.
