Christian Science was first presented to me in 1910, at which time I had a passing interest in it as one of the many religions and philosophies which I had investigated in my search for a satisfying faith. In the summer of 1913, however, I was in a state of mental depression bordering on melancholia. Reaching out for some surcease. I was led to the office of a Christian Science practitioner, who gave me a treatment which lifted the darkness from my consciousness in what seemed to me to be a miraculous manner. Persons who saw me immediately after the treatment could hardly believe the change that had taken place, for from a state of dejection I was transformed into a happy, joyous individual I then attended Christian Science services in a small distant city and continued my interest from that time on.
I have successfully applied the ministrations of Christian Science to many mental and physical problems, including an acute financial difficulty. At first the solving of this problem seemed to be hopeless. I was awakened one night with a sense of worry, but through my recognition of God's protection and guidance I was lifted out of this false sense of responsibility and brought into mental focus of a complete plan for meeting the seeming imponderable question. Through my obediently adhering to the revelation, in which all the details of an effective plan had unfolded, a perfect solution of the problem was quickly attained.
The most outstanding healing I have experienced was that of what was diagnosed cardiac asthma. This condition is in most cases considered incurable by materia medica, and I was led to believe that the difficulty could only be relieved by injections. However, I felt certain that the healing was possible through Christian Science. Although my immediate family expressed great alarm over the apparent condition and wanted medical treatment, the thought came to me very clearly that since Christian Science had met my every need for a period of thirty years, I should have faith that this condition would likewise be met.
