I thank God with all my heart for Christian Science, for it has abundantly blessed my life. I suffered from a severe case of tuberculosis of the lungs and was not expected to recover. A friend brought me Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and I read it every day. The truths contained in this book gave me consolation, and I began to see a new world that was built on the love of God and the might of Spirit. Mrs. Eddy's firm conviction of the allness of God filled me with a strong hope that I could he healed.
I wrote to a practitioner who I knew had healed many people through her understanding of the truth. As she worked for me I was immeasurably grateful, for I felt the glorious truth flowing into my consciousness. In a few months I was very much better, although I was not yet quite well. I still suffered from fatigue, and the practitioner took up work for me anew. I spent the summer in the country and studied Christian Science as much as I could. I did not use recommended prescriptions or heed the warning of doctors. When my lungs were later X-rayed, an astonished doctor said, "You have cause to be grateful, for you are now perfectly well."
Health is not the only blessing which comes to us through Mrs. Eddy's glorious discovery. Through the application of Christian Science I have gained much spiritual growth and a peace that is not of this world. I thank God, who through Mrs. Eddy gave us Christian Science, which enables us to understand the wonderful teachings of our Master. I am also grateful to the practitioner who helped me and for her patience and loving-kindness. I am grateful, too, for the lessons learned during this experience, for I have been led into a new and more joyous way of life.— Helsingfors, Finland.
