Testimonies of Healing

I am daily grateful that I was early taught...

From the August 1951 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am daily grateful that I was early taught the fruits of obedience. My mother was a devout Christian Scientist, who believed in adherence to the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy and the bylaws of our own branch church. I remember that when I was twenty-one and seemed to be having difficulty choosing the right course pertaining to my future happiness, she said to me, "I can guarantee you that if you will read the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly daily for a year, your problem will be solved." Her conviction convinced me, and I am happy to say I did as she suggested. The problem was beautifully solved in less than a year. I find that as a, result of my reading the Lesson-Sermon before f begin my work in the morning, no matter what the duties of the day, they are lightened by this study.

I am also daily shown the rewards of regular church attendance. I have been able to make quick demonstrations in numberless instances. I felt that my right place on Wednesday night and Sunday morning was in church, and I was able to be (here, because I knew that man is forever in his right place. I was able to serve as First Reader for three years, missing only two services, and then not on account of illness. Love of the Lesson-Sermon and church services, however, did not come all at once, but grew as my thought became more spiritual.

During the passing years I have had many healings, such as those of hay fever and chronic colds. I have had protection in automobile and other accidents and many demonstrations of supply. One of these stands out as a beacon light. During the depression and early years of marriage, my allowance had to cover many items. One Saturday my husband gave the money to me, but when I wanted it in order to do some shopping and pay some bills, I could not find it. Most of the afternoon was spent searching, but to no avail. I felt a great sense of loss on Sunday morning when I went to church. During the solo these thoughts came to me: "Have you lost the love of God? Have you lost the knowledge of man's relationship to God that Christian Science has taught you? Have you lost any of Life, Truth, or Love? No! Then in reality you haven't lost anything, have you?" And I could truthfully answer. "No, J haven't lost anything."
