How wonderful to know that man reflects God and that God expresses Himself through man! And how wonderful that through Christian Science one can begin to prove that whatever is un-Godlike, and does not represent God, is untrue. Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 15), "What a faith-lighted thought is this! that mortals can lay off the 'old man,' until man is found to be the image of the infinite good that we name God, and the fulness of the stature of man in Christ appears."
At certain times an office whose windows face north is brightened by the reflection of the sun from the windows across the street which face south. Someone coming into this office who did not know which way the office windows faced might believe the sun was shining directly into the room. A student of Christian Science thinking of this realized that when the light of Truth and Love shines through us, we reflect the nature of God to those with whom we deal. When we see our true selfhood as that which reflects Life, Truth, and Love we reflect the beauty and harmony of God to each one who comes into our thought.
Christ Jesus understood and proved that man is the image and likeness of God. Thus he could reflect the divine nature to all. Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures'' p. 259): "In divine Science, man is the true image of God. The divine nature was best expressed in Christ Jesus, who threw upon mortals the truer reflection of God and lifted their lives higher than their poor thought-models would allow,—thoughts which presented man as fallen, sick, sinning, and dying."
