INDIVIDUAL EXEMPTION

From the October 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

On the stormy night when Peter left the boat to walk to Jesus on the Sea of Galilee it was proved beyond doubt that because good is always possible to God, good is equally possible to man as His image and likeness. In the midst of a turbulent sea Peter found himself able to walk on the water. But as soon as he looked away from Jesus, the supreme demonstrator of the Christ, Truth, and allowed his thoughts to dwell on the boisterous nature of the wind and waves, the way was opened for fear and doubt to enter his consciousness. So he began to sink. He was saved from drowning by Jesus' masterly understanding of the supremacy of God's law, which sets aside so-called physical laws.

Many of us would like to move unhampered and untrammeled by physical laws and be free from material limitations. Mankind longs for freedom from unjust and unnecessary human laws. Through the centuries the desire for freedom from restraint and limitation imposed by regulation has brought men together in violent revolt when such restraint and limitation have been unnecessarily harsh and restrictive.

For most men in a brasen prison live.
