Testimonies of Healing

From the April 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"As a material, theoretical life-basis is found to be a misapprehension of existence, the spiritual and divine Principle of man dawns upon human thought, and leads it to 'where the young child was.'—even to the birth of a new-old idea, to the spiritual sense of being and of what Life includes." Now, many years after I began the study of Christian Science, this statement from page 191 of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, is unfolding its precious import to me in ever greater measure.

At a time when I was discouraged and suffering from grief and a physical breakdown, a friend asked me to go with her to a Christian Science church service. I did so and came away with the conviction that Christian Science was the truth, and I began to study the textbook.

I learned that man expresses, by reflection, spiritual qualities. This understanding brought a greater sense of joy, intelligence, perseverance, and orderliness into my life and reversed a pronouncement of failure in my work. I was offered a position which I had hoped I might some day be fitted for, and I held it for many years. By my seeking God's guidance and holding in thought a spiritual sense of home, my mother and I found a house which was ideally suited to our needs. Improved health came almost unnoticed, and in all the years since that time I have not been absent from work because of illness.
