Testimonies of Healing

For the Christian Science Sunday School...

From the April 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For the Christian Science Sunday School and for the consecrated teachers from whom I received a firm foundation for my study and application of this Science, I shall always be most grateful.

I am especially grateful that in Christian Science we have a practical religion. How often, when I have been faced with a difficult decision or given some work to do which I felt I was not capable of carrying out, the Christ, Truth, has come to my consciousness in the words of our beloved Leader. Mary Baker Eddy (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 454): "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way. Right motives give pinions to thought, and strength and freedom to speech and action." That this truth, as taught by Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, heals, guards, and guides, I have had unerring proof. A number of physical difficulties yielded when Christian Science was honestly applied. At one time certain bodily functions ceased; but when much erroneous thinking was expelled, the trouble yielded and normalcy was restored. I am most grateful for the devoted help of the practitioner who patiently and lovingly worked for me.

When my mother passed on. I was wonderfully sustained and was able to see death as a mortal mind illusion. I knew that God was my Father-Mother, and that I could not be deprived of love, understanding, purity, unselfishness, and tenderness, because as a child of God I reflected these qualities. Later my father passed on. That particular week a whole section of the Lesson -Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly was devoted to the subject of parentage, and the following statement from that section helped me greatly (Science and Health, p. 516): "Man and woman as coexistent and eternal with God forever reflect, in glorified quality, the infinite Father-Mother God." The Lesson-Sermons truly supply food for our daily needs, and I feel unspeakably grateful that our Leader had the heavenly inspiration to make this provision for us.
