"Freely ye have received, freely give"...

From the April 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Freely ye have received, freely give" (Matt. 10:8). In gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me, and in the hope that my testimony may help others, I wish to relate a few of the many healings I have experienced during the past ten years.

When I first took up the study of Christian Science I was burdened with debt and had no scruples about borrowing money incessantly, knowing I could always meet the payments. I was greatly impressed with the words of Christ Jesus that I saw on the walls of some of our Christian Science churches, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). The full significance of these words came to me only after many months of loving help from a practitioner, and I began to be lifted out of the financial fog. The joy of at last realizing that we should "owe no man any thing, but to love one another" (Rom. 13: 8) and finding myself free from indebtedness, with no desire ever to spend more than I had on hand, has brought me a great sense of peace and security.

Through the daily study and application of Christian Science I have also been freed from many undesirable traits of character, such as sensitiveness, which resulted in hurt feelings, and personal possessiveness. All these erroneous traits have just dropped off as shackles, and this has given me such freedom of thought, speech, and action that I know I have been truly reborn.
