I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing, but because it appealed to me as a reasonable and logical religion. I have had many proofs that Christian Science heals.
These words of Mary Baker Eddy's in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" have always been helpful to me (p. 495): "Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious as Life eternally is—can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not," and (pp. 391, 392), "Fear is the fountain of sickness, and you master fear and sin through divine Mind."
Although at one time I was very nervous and full of fear, during the Second World War I went out at night without fear during air raids, doing my duty in a dormitory shelter and at a Christian Science Rest Room for the troops. I was always protected in times of danger and was never absent from my post. There were moments when fear tried to creep in, but it was immediately dispelled by the comforting assurance of the ninety-first Psalm.
