Like many others, I turned to Christian Science for healing after everything else had failed.
At one time I was in a sanatorium with what the doctors claimed to be an advanced stage of tuberculosis of the lungs. Although they did not give me much hope for recovery and I was in the depths of despair, I found the pearl of great price. Someone sent my roommate a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and she read aloud some of the testimonies in the chapter on Fruitage. These kindled a spark of hope in me, and I could hardly wait to read for myself how people could be healed by just reading a book.
This "new tongue" inspired me, and I immediately recognized Christian Science as the Comforter, spoken of in the Bible, which would guide us into all truth. Even though I was grasping it "precept upon precept; line upon line; . . . here a little, and there a little" (Isa. 28:10), I knew that I had at last found what satisfies and that on this rock of Truth I could build a spiritual structure which could not be shaken by the storm of error. I sent for a textbook of my own, got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner for absent treatment, and earnestly began to study. I shall always be grateful to the loving practitioners who, when called upon at different times, were so faithful and patient in helping me.
