Mrs. Eddy writes on page 9 of "Rudimental Divine Science," "The spiritual power of a scientific, right thought, without a direct effort, an audible or even a mental argument, has oftentimes healed inveterate diseases." I am glad to testify to the truth of this statement.
A little over ten years ago I was ill for many weeks with a stubborn infection of the eye, ear, and nose. When I did not improve under the medical treatment of three specialists, one of them recommended my taking a trip south, saying that he thought the Florida sunshine might help me.
During my third week in Florida, as I was no better, I sent an air-mail letter to an eye specialist who had been treating the condition, asking for a renewal of an eyedrop prescription. About this time I also wrote to a dear and interested friend, a Christian Scientist, to whose family I was indebted for much kindness during my illness; and while I have no doubt that I gave her a very discouraging picture of my condition, I felt and expressed much gratitude for the loving consideration that had been shown me.
