In her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, sets forth the inalienable truths of God and His creation. In so doing she takes her stand on the first record of creation in the Bible, wherein it is stated that God said (Gen. 1:26), "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness," and further, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him." Proceeding from this divine fact and imbued with spiritual perception, our Leader discloses the unchangeable truths of God and His entire creation.
What deep gratitude we all owe to Mrs. Eddy, who with unswerving patience and fidelity searched until she discovered the incontestable truth that God's spiritual universe is forever established and that nothing can disrupt or overthrow it, even though self-delusion or atheistic so-called teaching would claim to do so. Those who cling to this spiritual truth, so logically stated by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, who study it with a sincere heart and assimilate it with clear perception, soon find their way out of the mortal beliefs and limitations that often darken and handicap the lives of so many, sometimes condemning them to hopeless invalidism.
Is it not a reason for profound joy to know that one's life is governed by higher laws than those of matter; that it is determined by a loving creator and Father; and that it is a life of usefulness, freedom, and spiritual dominion? Why then should one submit to the inhuman decrees of mortal sense and man-made conditions, which, in reality, have no law and no mind to support them?
