Poems

Like Faithful Shepherds

From the June 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When Moses, humble servant of the Word,
Led through the desert waste and barren sand
The gentle flock entrusted to his hand.
He came to Horeb, mountain of the Lord;
And there he saw the hush that burned, there heard
The voice of God and knew the flame was fanned
To light a way for him to understand
The great I AM—the All of Life's accord.
We too, like faithful shepherds of the sheep,
Would guard the gentle thoughts that come to us
And guide them till we reach that state of mind
So high and lifted up that all the deep
Immortal truths will to our consciousness
Be clear, by Soul's eternal light defined.
