To me there is no more important reading...

From the September 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To me there is no more important reading matter in the whole world than the testimonies given in our periodicals, which tell of Christian Science healing and regeneration. For many years I have read them the very first thing upon receiving the periodicals. Our testimonies are proofs that Science heals, and Mrs. Eddy placed great importance on the giving of them.

I began early to ponder the meaning of life, and as I grew to maturity I investigated world religions and philosophies. Years of devotion to an orthodox teaching had not answered my questions or satisfied my heart's longing for peace.

I was introduced to Christian Science through reading some Christian Science Sentinels which had been left in a cottage in which we lived in California. I was not greatly impressed and not really conscious that I was putting away in thought some of the truths I read. Years later, when the so-called depression of the late twenties came, my husband in desperation turned to Christian Science and was greatly comforted. I attended services in a Church of Christ, Scientist, with him, and I read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy constantly. At the end of a year I knew that I had found what I had been so long looking for—the pearl of great price, the Comforter.
