With joy and gratitude for proof of God's love and power I should like to share the following experience.
Several years ago a growth appeared on my right hand, and although I denied its reality, it grew larger and finally became painful. After two years; feeling that I had done all I could to help myself, I sought the aid of a consecrated Christian Scientist, who recommended first that I diligently seek the healing message which each Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly held for me, and secondly that I study deeply Mrs. Eddy's statement, "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive" (Science and Health, p. 463). These recommendations were carefully followed. As I studied the above statement word by word with the help of a dictionary and the Concordances to Mrs. Eddy's writings, a fuller meaning of the word "properly" unfolded, and I began to understand that Mind, being omniscient, needs no trial and error method, but knows only the right way of accomplishing whatever action is necessary.
A few days later the growth was greatly reduced in size, and in the next few days it entirely disappeared. How but through the understanding of divine Mind can surgery be accomplished so properly and naturally, without pain or a moment's incapacity?
