FROM THE DIRECTORS

"For Self-Instruction in Christian Science"

From the March 1953 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is characteristic of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy—of the loving thoughtfulness and thoroughness of her work—that she provided for the literature necessary for the progress of the student of Christian Science and left no question as to what it is or how it should be used.

Thus in the Manual of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in referring to any applicant for membership in this Church, she writes (Art. IV, Sect. 1):

"The Bible, together with Science and Health and other works by Mrs. Eddy, shall be his only textbooks for self-instruction in Christian Science, and for teaching and practising metaphysical healing."
