The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, had deep compassion for the human race in all of its difficulties. Her meeting of adversity gave her thorough proof of God's willingness and ability to supply the answer to every problem. Her experiences, and her faith and unselfed love in facing them, helped prepare her to receive the full revelation of the law of Truth, or Christian Science. She drew upon this wellspring of spiritual understanding to satisfy mankind's thirst for demonstrable, saving Truth.
Today's problems—whether we believe they are personal or world-wide—will be solved surely and completely as each of us learns to demonstrate the loving and healing activity of the absolute truth of God Himself. With what assurance, yet with what tenderness, our Leader points this out to us (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 263): "Always bear in mind that His presence, power, and peace meet all human needs and reflect all bliss." The teaching of Christian Science makes clear that God is all the power, presence, and cause that actually can and does exist. Therefore all effect, including man, expresses ceaseless spiritual good—God, divine Principle. All true being is Truth, God and His reflection. Consequently, only that which manifests Godlikeness, the spiritual qualities of Life, Truth, and Love, can be real. Whatever suggests the appearance of God's opposite or unlikeness is illusory and unreal.
Our Master and Way-shower spoke of the Comforter in these words (John 14: 26): "The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." To grasp even in part the eternal and infinite application of the truth of ever-present perfection is to possess some specific knowledge of this Comforter, or divine Science.
