Testimonies of Healing

My last written testimony was published...

From the March 1953 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My last written testimony was published in the Christian Science Sentinel of December 9, 1933. I consider it a privilege and duty to express again my deep appreciation of an understanding of the healing truth that we obtain through the study of our textbooks, the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, as well as through all the other writings of our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy. It is impossible to express in words my gratitude to God for the many healings I have experienced, some through my own effort and others with the help of Christian Science practitioners. In all humility I express thanks for the following healings through the help of Christian Science.

Some years ago I was residing in a suburban town near New York City. I was an agent for foreign steamship travel and hotel business. One morning when very anxious to keep an appointment to obtain a large European booking I suffered an accident, which caused swelling, discoloration, and extreme pain in my face. My first thought was, If I can only get to my practitioner in the city I know he will help me. When I arrived at the railroad station in the city I looked in a mirror, and my face was in such a condition that I was tempted to go home. Then the thought came, Get to the practitioner's office; he will help you. I went to his office and explained to him in detail what had happened. He listened to me without speaking, even to express an audible statement of truth. I said to him: "What am I going to do? How am I going to keep my appointment this afternoon with my face in this condition?"

He replied: "There is no reason why you should not keep your appointment. I see nothing wrong with your face; get up and look in the mirror for yourself." I did, and saw that I had received an instantaneous healing. I realized something of what Mrs. Eddy means when she says (Science and Health, p. 598), "One moment of divine consciousness, or the spiritual understanding of Life and Love, is a foretaste of eternity." Needless to say, I kept my appointment and obtained the booking as I had hoped to do. I shall always be grateful to the practitioner who helped me so quickly that morning.
