ANNOUNCEMENT

We are pleased to announce the election of Thomas E. Hurley, C. S. B., of Cambridge, Massachusetts, on October 30, 1953, to be a Director of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Hurley succeeds George Wendell Adams, C. S. B., deceased. Mr. Hurley has resigned as Manager of Committees on Publication and Committee on Publication for Massachusetts to take up his new duties.

Mr. Hurley is a graduate of Yale University, where he received a B.A. degree. He joined The Mother Church in 1919 and received class instruction in Christian Science in 1922. He became a member of a branch church in 1924, and since 1925 has devoted his entire time to the practice of Christian Science. He is a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Louisville, Kentucky, which he has served as First Reader and in various other capacities. In 1931 Mr. Hurley was a pupil in the Normal class of the Board of Education, and since that time he has been a teacher of Christian Science. Mr. Hurley has served as Committee on Publication for Kentucky. In 1938 he became a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, which he served until he was elected First Reader in The Mother Church for a three-year term beginning in June, 1947. In June, 1950, he was re-elected to the Board of Lectureship, on which he was active until, in October, 1952, he became Manager of Committees on Publication.
