"And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. ... And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest"(Ex. 33: 11, 14). Throughout the ages God has spoken to mankind, as He did to Moses, through the comforting, friendly voice of His gentle presence. Today, as of yore, all who listen spiritually will hear and understand this voice of Spirit. When they obey the voice, they will find rough places made smooth, heavy burdens made light.
But how can we listen spiritually? How can we understand this voice of God? The Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, together with Mrs. Eddy's other writings, comprise the complete library needed by all who would seek and find these answers in Christian Science. For here we may find the complete scientific explanation of God, man, and the universe. Science declares the Supreme Being, the creator and protector of all things, to be infinite Mind and shows this Mind to be expressed by a limitless variety of ideas, all maintaining their individual identity and reflecting the perfection of the parent Mind.
One of the greatest contributions Christian Science makes to the understanding of God's presence is the doctrine of the allness of Spirit and the nothingness of matter; in other words, it teaches that nothing exists in heaven or earth that is outside the spaceless confines of spiritual creation. When properly understood, even the illusion called material universe and man is not outside God's province, or, to state it in the exact words of our Leader(Science and Health, p. 427),"Immortal Mind, governing all, must be acknowledged as supreme in the physical realm, so-called, as well as in the spiritual." Thus can be seen the all-inclusiveness of Christ's Christianity and the everyday practicality of its teachings. Thus the all-embracing presence of infinite Mind is recognized as "God with us"; and the untiring voice of divine Love reminds us to be about our Father's business—the rewarding business of being and doing good.
