Christian Science reveals God as infinite, All. Therefore He is supreme over all. He is the one and only Being in the sense that He is the sole creator or source of all that really exists. In reality, nothing has entity or being separate from God. Paul said (Acts 17:28), "In him we live, and move, and have our being." With characteristic spiritual insight Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 285), "The time has come for a finite conception of the infinite and of a material body as the seat of Mind to give place to a diviner sense of intelligence and its manifestations,—to the better understanding that Science gives of the Supreme Being, or divine Principle, and idea."
This absolute truth of God's supremacy is made practical in our human experience when we understand the true nature of man, inseparable from God. Mrs. Eddy says (ibid., p. 554), "There is no such thing as mortality, nor are there properly any mortal beings, because being is immortal, like Deity,—or, rather, being and Deity are inseparable." This immortal Being, God, is not something theoretical, abstract, or remote. He is the living God, and man is His living expression.
Clearly, then, it is not enough for us merely to know God. We must demonstrate the fact that we are actually His expression by living the divine qualities. We then become a law unto ourselves, and this living law governs our whole experience harmoniously. Our Leader says (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 82): "Man is the offspring and idea of the Supreme Being, whose law is perfect and infinite. In obedience to this law, man is forever unfolding the endless beatitudes of Being; for he is the image and likeness of infinite Life, Truth, and Love."
