Testimonies of Healing

"I will mention the lovingkindnesses of...

From the December 1955 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us" (Isa. 63:7). I humbly offer my gratitude for Christian Science and for what it has meant to me the past forty years. Many problems have been solved, many blessings received, and many healings experienced through the study and application of this Science.

I am grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the immensity of her work and for her love for mankind, a love which enabled her to establish the many channels within The Mother Church organization for our help and guidance. Especially am I grateful for the Christian Science Benevolent Associations. I have been a guest many times at the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association, San Francisco, California. Each time I have gained a deeper sense of gratitude for our Leader and have come away rested and inspired with new desire to do better work. Three years ago, when recovering from an accident, I was a guest at the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. While I was there, severe pain, which had been recurrent for four months, vanished completely. Now I am normal in every way. I give the entire glory to God, and I sincerely thank the practitioner who constantly directed my thought to a more correct understanding of God and man.

While serving as Second Reader in a branch church, I was stricken with a severe sore throat. Knowing that, as Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 473), "God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power," I denied the error. However, by evening I was not able to eat any dinner. I went to bed, and after several hours of prayerful work I went to sleep. When I awoke at the usual hour, the sore throat was entirely gone, but my voice was gone too. As I was not ill, I continued with my normal activities and gave much attention to study. When there was no improvement in my voice by Wednesday, I asked for the help of a practitioner. On Friday, when there was still no change, I became frightened, and I went to see the practitioner.
