My heart sings with gratitude for Christian Science, because it is teaching me to leave the dreams of mortal sense for the reality of Soul. Five years ago my husband and I turned to Christian Science when medical science said it could do no more to help him through a nervous breakdown. He had also suffered for months from pain in his back and chest. We went to see a dear uncle who had been studying Christian Science for over fifty years. His buoyant hope and faith led us to borrow the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
The loving-kindness of the librarian in a Christian Science Reading Room impressed us deeply. She came each day and read to us from the textbook until the arguments of fear and pain yielded to the truth of God and of man. My husband then bought the textbook, and as he continued to read and to grow in understanding, he was freed from his difficulty. This healing has been permanent.
I began to read Science and Health, too, and found my questions of years' standing answered. Daily study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly soon began to discipline and Christianize thought, and an understanding of Truth has brought health, harmony, and abundance into our home.
