Since earliest childhood I have enjoyed the blessings of Christian Science. It has been my only physician and Comforter. I am grateful for many rapid healings of annoying physical ailments, but those which have taken a longer time have sometimes brought more much-needed spiritual progress. When I reflect on my experiences and on how I have been lovingly guided and cared for, I am in awe before our Father-Mother God for His provision in ways that human planning could never have contrived.
When the depression set in I experienced many setbacks through the failure of two businesses with which I was connected, and I lost most of the money I had. I prayed for guidance and was offered an opportunity to use a latent talent in music through church and radio appearances. Later I felt impelled to go to New York City with what little money I had and with no further plans than a decision to pray constantly and to follow daily whatever guidance was given to me.
The day following my arrival in New York, I met a friend who sent me to an agent of the picture studios. I was accepted at once as a stand-in for a well-known star. Thereafter I was engaged repeatedly. Later I worked in a dramatic production of another type. For six years divine Mind sustained me as I went from one successful production to another under the most favorable management, with excellent playwrights and in a superior environment.
