A most beautiful and lasting healing came to me a number of years ago. I credit the healing to consecrated work on the practitioner's part, an honest desire on my part to stop sinful practices, and a willingness to express gratitude even before the physical healing was manifest. For this experience and many which have followed since, I wish to express deep and sincere thanks to God, as well as to Christ Jesus, our Way shower, and to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
The healing was of a nervous and physical breakdown. Hardly a single organ of the body appeared to be unaffected. On more than one occasion the last enemy seemed to be very near. Study or even cursory reading of Christian Science literature was most difficult. I would start at the top of a page and arrive at the bottom without gaining any meaning from the words I had read.
When I finally decided to forsake sin, regardless of whether or not recovery was made, the first rays of Truth's sunshine penetrated the mortal darkness of my thinking, and improvement was made. My fear, however, was very great and had to be faced. I told the practitioner that I was afraid I was going to die. She said: "Well, if you feel that you are going on, at least go without fear. Face the suggestion and dare it to harm you as a son of God." I did this. I told it that it was a liar, and that even if I should pass on, I would not be afraid. After that more improvement was manifested.
