My heartfelt gratitude for Christian Science can no longer remain unexpressed. When I was a girl in my early teens, my mother sent me to the Christian Science Sunday School. Shortly afterward my grandfather gave me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. My attendance at Sunday School was regular for four or five years. Then came a time when I allowed other interests to draw me away.
Nearly twenty-five years later, after I had been married and had two children, almost everything in my human experience appeared to be wrong. One of my children was not well, and my situation at home was so unbearable that I thought if it could be corrected by my dying, I was ready to do so. When I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, I remembered my copy of Science and Health, which I had kept all these years. I began reading it, and soon I requested help of a Christian Science practitioner.
Several times previous to this my neighbors, who were members of The Mother Church and of the branch church in the town in which we lived, had asked me to attend Christian Science lectures with them. Always I had refused their invitations and rejected their view that Christian Science could help me to find comfort and healing. When I told them that I had asked the help of a practitioner, they lovingly shared some copies of The Christian Science Monitor and the Christian Science Sentinel with me. Soon I began attending Sunday services with them at their branch church. In a few months my children were enrolled in the Sunday School and attended it regularly.
